I am an applied mathematician who studies how collective behavior arises in networked dynamical systems. My work combines dynamical systems theory with data-driven modeling. In neuroscience, I build models of the nematode C. elegans, constrained by its connectome and fit to whole-brain imaging, that show how its neural circuits switch the animal between behaviors. I also develop methods for identifying governing equations from data, particularly when data are scarce. In other work, I use Koopman eigenfunctions to find exact solutions of nonlinear differential equations. More about my research →

Before joining Illinois Tech in 2024, I was an NSF Mathematical Sciences Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Courant Institute, New York University, working with Lai-Sang Young. I received my Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Washington in 2021, advised by J. Nathan Kutz, and my B.S. in Applied Mathematics and Behavioral Neuroscience from Western Washington University. I am an affiliate member of the National Institute for Theory and Mathematics in Biology (NITMB).
